What a PCT is

PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty Law)

PCT is a multilateral Treaty which allows us to require protection by means of patent to an invention simultaneously in many countries by presenting only one international patent requirement.

This Treaty is administered by the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) in 146 countries (until September 2012), among them, Brazil. Its main objective is to simplify and save on invention protection, when presented in these respective countries. Requirement to a PCT may be presented by any person who lives or has nationality in a country member of the referred Treaty.
